First SNAP drop in experience in Waskaganish

This past month Waskaganish hosted their very first edition of a “Drop-In Centre”.

SNAP had an encouraging month as we hosted a few activities for our youth ages 6-12 years. This past month we hosted our very first edition of a “Drop-In Centre”. The idea came directly from a survey completed about what sorts of programs and services our community needs for proactive activities afterschool. We had a great turn out with over 60 participants as we enjoyed: SNAP Workshops, played  games, conducted art & crafts, and had some outdoor activities and learning. It was a great experience to assess the needs of our community and to serve afterschool activities with our partners of the Cree School Board.  We look forward to having this activity again in the next upcoming weeks hosted by the Prevention Unit of the Department of Justice. Our plan is to have more activities and workshops such as Arts and Crafts for families, cooking/baking and so much more! Stay tuned….
